Aunt Bette’s Baked Beans: A Family Recipe for More than 150 Years
Pick up a ready-made batch, or try out our recipe:
Pre-soak beans for eight hours. Drain and rinse.
Take:

8 cups of water
-
1 honey glazed ham bone
-
2 pounds of Great Northern beans
-
2 tablespoons of salt
-
2 tablespoons of pepper
Bring to a boil; let simmer for three hours. Remove bone and excess broth from top of beans, and add the following:

1 cup of brown sugar

1 tablespoon of honeycup mustard

1/4 cup of vinegar
-
1 tablespoon of horseradish
-
1/2 to 1 cup of molasses

2 onions, diced

Pick up a soul-satisfying bowl ready-made or grab a pot and start simmering!
In a large soup kettle, combine:

1 honey glazed ham bone
-
3 pounds of navy beans (lentils or split peas)
-
16 cups of water
-
3 medium onions, diced
-
2 bay leaves
-
2 garlic buds (optional)
Bring contents of pot to a rapid boil. Lower the heat, and let simmer for three hours. Season to your particular taste, and grab a spoon!
